Instructions for authors
The published article is the property of Stomatolog magazine. It is possible to use its text, images, tables or graphs in another publication only on the basis of a properly recorded citation or with the consent of the editors of the Slovak Chamber of Dentists.
Articles containing any of the following types of information are suitable for publication:
- Records from original research
- Original clinical observations combined with analysis and discussion
- Analysis of philosophical, ethical or social aspects of health professions or biomedical sciences
- Critical reviews
- Statistical compilations, review works
- Descriptions of evaluation methods or procedures
- Case records with comments
Authorship
The authors of the individual articles are persons who substantially contributed to the content of the publication, to the analysis and interpretation of findings and case reports, to the editing and revision of the text, and who agree with the submitted version of the publication.
Disclaimer
Declaration by the authors that the contents and appendices of the work are their work, that the used parts of the texts and appendices are taken with the permission of the publisher or properly cited. Declaration that the article has not been published or offered for publication to another journal.
Ethical aspects
The works do not include the names, initials of the patients, or medical record numbers.
Photographs of patients' faces must be modified by covering the eyes, or the written consent of the person concerned for publication must be documented.
Photos of eyes and eyelids must be detailed, without a shot of the entire face, or documented written consent of the person concerned for publication.
If animal experiments were performed, include a declaration of compliance with constitutional or national regulations and guidelines for the breeding and use of experimental animals, or attach an affidavit of approval from the local ethics committee.
If the results of studies in human medicine are published in the thesis, attach an affidavit that the study was approved by the local ethics committee.
The author is obliged to notify the editors of the support of the company whose product he used in his work. The editors assume that the authors of review pharmacotherapy articles are not financially involved in the company whose product is presented in the article.
Title-page
The title page is sent in two copies and contains:
An apt title of the article. It is also possible to attach your own translation of the name in English. List of authors according to the order of the share of work on the preparation of the article. Title/s, first name, last name, title/s, name of workplace, name of head of workplace with full title.
Summary and keywords
The second page of the manuscript is for a structured summary and key words. It is also possible to add your own translation of the summary in English. The summary should not exceed 150 words, without using abbreviations. It specifies the purpose and goal of the work, the observation methods used, the results of the analyzes and the significance of the results resulting from the given work. Under the summary, after the title ?keywords? state 3 ? 10 word-like connections (keywords) that describe the content of the work.
Is it possible to attach your own translation, or only certain terms and used phrases? for the translator.
Own text
The actual text of the work should not exceed 10 pages of A4 format, including literature. The text should be divided into the following parts:
- Introduction
- Methods
- Results/Case reports
- Discussion
Introduction
It expresses the meaning of the article and refers to the literature that is directly related to the given topic. The introduction does not contain the results and conclusions of the work.
Methods
This part describes sets of observed subjects, used methods, instruments and examination and treatment procedures. Known methods and procedures are described very briefly, or a reference to the relevant literature will suffice. Unknown or modified methods and procedures need to be described in detail, justifying their use and limitations. Submissions on new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures must comply with the principles of the Helsinki and Tokyo Declarations of 1964 and 1975. All drugs and chemicals used must be accurately identified, including generic name, dose and method of use. Physical and chemical quantities are given in SI units. Abbreviation of words, except for the usual abbreviations, is not recommended. If it is necessary to abbreviate an expression that is repeated frequently in the text, put the abbreviation in parentheses after the first use of this expression, e.g. ?temporomandibular joint (TMK)?. To mark the teeth and uses the two-digit numerical code of the system of the International Dental Federation. Bacteria are listed by generic and species names for the first time, in the following text the generic name may be abbreviated.
Results, case report
The results are arranged logically according to the procedure in the texts, tables and illustrations. It is not necessary to repeat the facts presented in the tables or graphs in the text.
Discussion
The discussion emphasizes significant results and conclusions that emerge from the work in comparison with the results of other authors' studies in the given topic. In the discussion, is it allowed to present new hypotheses that logically follow from the results? however, it is necessary to draw attention to this. It is also possible to submit recommendations for practice.
List of used literature
It contains only publications actually used, to which the author refers, or important works in the given topic. Only the formal inclusion of a publication in the list is inadmissible.
Authors of articles must observe ethical standards in relation to other people's ideas and results, which are contained in other documents - in the used literature. They must not distort them or change their meaning. A quote from the literature can only be edited within the framework of correct spelling.
We indicate the used sources in the continuous text according to the method recommended by the STN ISO 690 standard, taking into account the ISO 7144 standard. The citation mark is always in the place in the text where we refer to the used source. This entry is then an entry in the bibliographic reference list.

In the list of bibliographic data, the entry has the following structure: Author/title/facts about the document.

Tables, graphs
Write tables in Word or Excel format. Number them in the order they are placed in the text. Each table has a heading located above the table. Write any explanations below the table. Mark the place where the table or graph placed in the text should be on the left edge of the manuscript, for example: graph 1, tab. 1, etc.
Image documentation
Scanned images, diagrams in *.jpg or *.tif format in 600-800dpi resolution. Photos in *.jpg or *.tif format with a resolution of 350 dpi. Do not insert images, diagrams or photographs into Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents. Translation of legends into English. The legend contains: picture number, diagrams or photos, text, author of the picture, photos, or the source from which the image, photo was borrowed with permission. If there is a face in the photo, it must not be identifiable, or attach the written consent of the person concerned that it may be published in Stomatolog magazine.
Mark the place where the image should be, the photo placed in the text on the left edge of the manuscript, e.g.: fig. 1 et seq.
Submitting a manuscript
Statement:
that the manuscript has been approved, the imprimatur of the head of the workplace.
that the article has not been published in any other professional journal in print or electronic form and has not been offered to another professional journal for publication.
Information cover letter:
Whether it is a part of planned research, a grant, whether and where the work was annotated, presented, whether it is a work to be continued as part of a larger whole, whether it is an extension of a dissertation, habilitation work, etc. Name, address, e-mail of the author entrusted with proofreading for contact with the editors.
The editors reserve the right, after the review process, to return the manuscript to the author for revision.
