Periodontal health is defined as a condition of periodontal tissues without the presence of an inflammatory disease of the dental ligaments. The person does not suffer any consequences (mental or physical ones) resulting from the previous diseases. Tissues located in the vicinity of the implants, known as peri-implant tissues, have a specific and in many aspects similar anatomy. An elaborated protocol of preventive measures to ensure periodontal health is extremely important. There is convincing evidence that motivational interviewing often leads to more favourable clinical responses to treatment than conventional preventive tools. This scientific article focuses on the main role of preventive methods, such as motivation and motivational interviews, to maintain the state of periodontal health.
