In this review article, the authors describe the characteristics, incidence and clinical picture of medical conditions that are classified as eating disorders. They make the public familiar with bulimia, anorexia nervosa and gastroesophageal reflux diseases. The authors state that bulimia is treated by psychiatrists and the dentists come across with the unilaterally torn corners of the mouth caused by deliberate urge to vomit. Xerostomia and symptoms of malnutrition occur. Similarly, anorexia nervosa is the domain of psychiatrists and neurologists. However, it is classified as eating disorder. In the oral cavity, side effects of taken medicaments, especially of diuretics, can be observed. Gastroesophageal reflux disease often damages hard dental tissues that need repair. In this case, side effects of drugs such as calcium channel blockers, beta blockers and hormones are observed.
