Motivation and collaboration of patients treated with Invisalign and their subjective complaints
- Katedra čeľustnej ortopédie, Slovenská zdravotnícka univerzita, Limbová 14, 833 03 Bratislava
Motivation and collaboration play a key role in any orthodontic treatment including Invisalign therapy.
The ability of the oral and maxillofacial surgeon to predict the patient's level of collaboration is also very important because the patients who are not expected to collaborate properly should be treated with fixed rather than removable apparatuses, eventually the orthodontic treatment should be considered carefully. Pain and discomfort are common side effects of orthodontic treatment. Pain has a negative effect on patient's collaboration, his oral hygiene and a missed a missed dental appointment. The article deals with the comparison of subjective complaints of the patient treated with the Invisalign apparatus, fixed labial and lingual apparatus, elucidation of possible causes of pain as well as comparison of the use of analgesics to its alleviation. There is also mentioned the possibility of monitoring the patient's collaboration during treatment of the adolescents by Invisalign apparatus using colour indicators.
