In this part, the authors focus their attention on the diagnosis, treatment and classification of lichen planus disease. In addition to general knowledge on this disease, the article also describes oral lichen planus (OLP) with localization on surface of the tongue and mucous membranes of the oral cavity. In the paper, all dental and dermatological classifications of lichen planus disease as well as manifestations of drug-induced forms of this disease are discussed in detail. It describes the clinical picture of each type of OLP and emphasizes the collaboration with a dermatologist. In conclusion, the authors discuss the possibility of malignant transformation into squamous cell carcinoma and the inclusion of the OLP clinical manifestations among precancerous conditions.
