Kawasaki syndrome (Review article)

In the present review article, the authors describe the basic characteristics of Kawasaki syndrome and possible manifestations in the oral cavity. It is one of the most common causes of acquired heart diseases in children. An incomplete presentation of syndrome develops more often and the diagnosis is more demanding than in a typical form with clearly defined diagnostic criteria. To reduce the risk of permanent sequelae of the disease, it is necessary to know the clinical manifestations to provide early diagnosis and treatment. In the case of oral manifestations, a supportive care is usually required and the symptoms gradually subside after the start of treatment.
