Adjuvant systemic antibiotic therapy for a patient with chronic periodontitis

Periodontitis is the most common disease of upper teeth. An early and correct diagnosis of the disease leads to a high successfulness of the treatment. In this paper we present a case study of a 47-year-old female patient. The attention was paid to medical history records, correct diagnosis based on a new classification of periodontal diseases dated from 2018, development of treatment plan and evidence based periodontal therapy. The patient was examined clinically (extra-orally and intraorally), and radiologically. The microbiological examination was performed in collaboration with the Department of Immunology and Microbiology of Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin and the samples were analysed by means of PCR methods. On the basis of examinations, a diagnosis was determined and a therapy indicated. As for the therapy, we chose a mechanical one in the sense of a ʽfull mouth therapyʼ.
