The importance of bioactive materials in contemporary dentistry is undeniable. In our paper, we focused on the clinical assessment of cavities treated with bioactive material Biodentine ™. The bioactive material was used in diagnosing the deep caries and caries close to pulp. In the years 2012 to 2018, 102 cavities were treated. The therapeutic efficacy reached 90%. No endodontic treatment was necessary; the carious dentine of the tooth was completely substituted with bioactive material. In 10% of the cases the root canal treatment was indicated in order to preserve the vitality of the tooth. In one case a vertical fracture occurred, the tooth was conservatively untreatable and indicated for extraction. According to our findings, the use of bioactive materials is reasonable, especially in cases when we try to maintain the vitality of a tooth despite a close contact of the caries lesion with the dental pulp.
